David Young is a versatile composer whose writing credits include the 2014 comedy SexEd; Hasbro's 2017 film, My Little Pony: The Movie; and Ford Motor's 2017 television campaign We are Champions, as well as music for several ad campaigns and dance companies.
Young's signature composition style is a blend of epic, contemporary jazz, with pop and classical influences.
In demand as a composer and songwriter, Young is a frequent collaborator with Grammy-nominated producers DJ White Shadow (A Star Is Born, ARTPOP), and Wallis Lane (Travis Scott, Drake). He has penned songs for pop stars Chris Brown, Maluma, Pitbull, Kali Uchis, Big Sean, Adam Lambert and Joe Jonas (DNCE).
David is an accomplished trumpet player and bandleader in his own right, having released two albums of original music, Appassionata (2001) and Silverback (2014). Young's third album is a jazz fusion collaboration with platinum-selling production duo Detroit City (Lady Gaga, The Cure), scheduled for a 2019 release.
David is the owner of David Young Presents, an entertainment agency that provides live entertainment for special events around the country. He has performed on over two dozen commercially released albums and shared the stage with Wynton Marsalis, Danilo Perez, Cody Chestnutt, Lauryn Hill, Kurt Elling and Alejandro Escovedo.
Young is a graduate of the Henry Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University (BMUS, 2002).
